BANGLADESHT RAVEL TOUR-Part 2: A tropical Paradise: Exploring Saint Martin Island, Bangladesh

M.AMINUR RAHMAN.

In the southernmost part of Bangladesh lies a hidden gem, the stunning island of St. Martin. This remote and picturesque island, also known as "Narikal Jingira" by the locals, is a pristine paradise in the Bay of Bengal. My journey to this beautiful island was filled with anticipation and excitement.

Day 1: Sail setting

My adventure on the island of St. Martin began in Cox's Bazar, known for having the longest natural beach in the world. After a pleasant drive along the coast, I reached Teknaf, the starting point of my journey to the island. The boat ride from Teknaf to St. Martin Island was a mesmerizing experience, with the azure waters of the Bay of Bengal stretching as far as the eye could see. The sight of playful dolphins escorting our boat was a pleasant surprise.

Day 2: Arrival in Paradise

As the sun began to warm over the horizon, we approached the island of St. Martin. The island's white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters were unlike anything I had seen before. After checking into a cozy beachfront cottage, I wasted no time hitting the beach.

Day 3: Beach Bliss

The island of St. Martin is famous for its pristine beaches. I spent the day lying in the sun on the ivory sand, gentle waves lapping at my feet. The water was so clear that I could see colorful fish swimming around my ankles as I waded into the shallows. Beach shacks offer delicious seafood and I couldn't resist trying some mouth-watering local dishes.

Day 4: Snorkeling Adventure

One of the main attractions of the island is its vibrant underwater world. Armed with snorkeling gear, I explored the coral reefs around the island. The array of marine life was simply breathtaking, including clownfish, parrotfish and sea anemones. I was lucky enough to see some sea turtles darting through the water.

Day 5: Sunset magic

The highlight of my trip was witnessing the mesmerizing sunset from the westernmost point of the island, known as Sunset Point. As the sun sank below the horizon, the sky transformed into a breathtaking palette of oranges, pinks and purples. It was a moment of pure serenity and beauty.

Day 6: Island Exploration

On my last day, I rented a bicycle to explore the island. Walking through quaint villages and lush greenery, I encountered friendly locals and their simple yet vibrant lifestyle. I visited Chera Dwip Village, known for its rocky terrain and breathtaking scenery.

Day 7: Farewell to Paradise

As my time on the island of St. Martin came to an end, I couldn't help but feel a deeper connection to this heavenly place. Its natural beauty, warm hospitality and pristine environment left an indelible impression on me. I left grateful to have seen a piece of heaven in the Bay of Bengal.

The island of St. Martin, with its pristine beaches, vibrant marine life and serene environment, is truly a tropical paradise worth exploring. It is a destination that leaves travelers with a sense of wonder and a desire to return again and again to its natural beauty.
